For the following materials certification process for waste and residues can be applied:
• Used Cooking Oil – UCO (a clear statement if the UCO is entirely of vegetable origin or entirely/partly of animal origin is required)
• Animal fat / tallow
not intended for human consumption. A clear statement of the category
1, 2 or 3 according to regulation (EC) No 1774/2002 is required (only
stating animal fat or tallow without the specific category is not
sufficient)
• Brown Grease / Grease trap fat (this is grease or fat removed from wastewater sent down a sink drain)
• Palm sludge oil extracted from POME (Palm oil mill effluent)
• Crude glycerine
• Spent bleaching earth
• Tall oil pitch
• Starch slurry (low grade)
These
materials must be specified as above on the certificate and on the delivery document. For the certification of other materials, the system
user or certification body must contact in due time prior to the
date of the audit.
Agricultural crop residues, residues from
forestry and related industries including fisheries and aquaculture
(straw, bagasse, husks, cobs, nut shells) must fulfill the land related
sustainability criteria laid down in Art. 17 of the RED.
For these
materials, certification process for „regular“ biomass
applies. A farmer providing agricultural crop residues has to sign and
provide the correct self-declaration for waste and residues to the First
Gathering Point.
